Terms & Conditions
Last updated: October 2026
These Terms & Conditions govern the use of our website and the hire of vehicles, tours, and transfer services from PSALMS Car Hire & Tours. By making a booking with us, you agree to the terms outlined below.
1. Bookings
All bookings are subject to vehicle or tour availability. A booking is only confirmed once you receive confirmation from our team, whether by phone, email, WhatsApp, or through the website. We recommend booking in advance, particularly during peak travel season.
2. Payment
Payment can be made via M-Pesa or other methods we support at the time of booking. Most bookings require a deposit to secure your reservation, with the balance due on pickup or before the trip begins, unless otherwise agreed in writing. Prices are quoted in Kenyan Shillings (KES) unless stated otherwise.
3. Cancellations & Changes
Cancellations or changes to a confirmed booking should be communicated to us as early as possible. Bookings cancelled with reasonable notice may be eligible for a full or partial refund at our discretion; late cancellations or no-shows may forfeit any deposit paid. Specific cancellation terms will be confirmed at the time of booking.
4. Self-Drive Hire — Eligibility
To hire a vehicle for self-drive, the driver must hold a valid driving license (a Kenyan license, or a valid International Driving Permit accompanied by a license from their home country for foreign visitors), be at least the minimum age required for the vehicle category, and provide valid identification. We reserve the right to decline hire if these requirements are not met.
5. Use of the Vehicle
Hired vehicles must be used responsibly, within the terms agreed at the time of booking, and in accordance with Kenyan traffic laws. The vehicle must not be used for illegal purposes, sublet to another party, or driven outside agreed areas without prior authorization. The renter is responsible for the vehicle's condition, fuel, and any traffic fines incurred during the rental period.
6. Insurance & Liability
All vehicles in our fleet carry comprehensive insurance. Specific excess amounts, coverage limits, and the renter's liability in the event of an accident or damage will be explained before you take possession of the vehicle. The renter may be liable for damage resulting from negligent or unauthorized use, outside the scope of standard coverage.
7. Fuel Policy
Vehicles are provided with a full tank of fuel and should be returned in the same condition. Vehicles returned with less fuel will be charged the difference at prevailing pump prices, plus a service fee.
8. Chauffeur-Driven & Tour Services
For chauffeur-driven hire, safaris, and tour packages, our drivers and guides are responsible for the safe operation of the vehicle and the general conduct of the trip. Itineraries may be adjusted for safety, weather, road conditions, or park regulations, and we will make reasonable efforts to keep you informed of any changes.
9. Corporate Accounts
Businesses with a corporate account are subject to the specific billing and service terms agreed in their corporate agreement, which take precedence over these general terms where they differ.
10. Limitation of Liability
While we take care to maintain our fleet and plan our tours responsibly, PSALMS Car Hire & Tours is not liable for delays, losses, or damages arising from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to weather, road closures, mechanical failure despite proper maintenance, or third-party actions.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. Continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
12. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Kenya.
